We’ve all had the KFC tower burger; it’s a junk food staple! Juicy fried chicken, toasted hash brown… one of my favourite takeaway items ever. In fact, it might be my favourite. It would 100% be on my “if-you-was-stuck-on-a-desert-island” list.
So to pay homage to such a creation, I knocked up this bad-boy homemade version, giving it a twist by using Turkey breasts instead of chicken.
Here’s everything I needed; always got to use the shitty cheese slices for these things & those smoked pork belly steaks are thick as fuck! No way I wasn’t using those over bacon!
I started by crushing up a load of the cornflakes & just mixing in a bit of everything from my poorly sized seasoning collection.
Then I marinated the belly steaks in the Jim Bean BBQ sauce they came with; never hurts to throw in an extra shot of whiskey here. Or just drink a shot of whiskey. Whiskey.
The turkey breasts were then dipped in egg white before being rolled in the broken cornflakes & seasoning, placed on an oven tray & thrown in the oven
With the turkey baking, the ciabattas were prepped with mayo & lettuce ready to go.
Next was the belly steaks. Bit of oil in a medium heat pan & fried those suckers for about 10mins, (low heat to really caramelise that sticky sauce without burning it). Smelt fucking gorgeous. Whilst this was happening, has browns also got thrown in the oven.
Turkey breasts came out looking fucking decent. Maybe a minute at this point under a hot grill would had made the coating super crispy, but you’ll hear no complaining from me!
AND ON THE 8TH DAY, GOD BUILT A BIG FUCKING BURGER!!
Soft ciabatta bun
Cornflake coated turkey breast
2 slices of shitty cheese
2 hash browns
2 pork belly steaks in Jim Bean sauces
This was delicious. No messing around, one of the nicest burgers I’ve made myself. I implore anyone who reads this to make this burger; you will be a happier person for it. A stuffed, fatter person, but definitely a happier, stuffed, fatter person.
